Editorial

Lacenotes is a web site that publishes articles and information on all aspects of lacemaking. Our first and foremost criterion is quality: we are looking for material that is out of the ordinary and has not previously been published in full. Our focus is particularly on technical or research articles, but we try to balance this with interesting patterns which, because of their length, complexity, use of colour etc, are difficult for individual authors to publish in full elsewhere. Lacenotes is non-profitmaking, international in scope, and has no association with any lace organization.

If you have something that you think will fit our profile, e-mail your ideas to the webmaster, He will pass them on to the editors, who are (in alphabetical order of surname):

Tamara Duvall (USA)

Vibeke Ervø (Denmark)

Jean Leader (Great Britain)

All pieces (including those from the editors) are first assessed for suitability, and then edited for factual accuracy, clarity and style. Two versions are produced: a text version, which will be downloadable from the site and is likely to be similar to the submission, and a web version which will be adapted and restructured for this very different medium. Authors will retain copyright on their work, and their pages will not go ‘live’ until their approval of a ‘preview’ has been received. Although we prefer pieces for publication in English, we do not exclude publication in other languages if we can obtain a suitable native-speaking guest editor and translator.

Finally, if you think that you have found an error in the site or are having problems viewing the pages on your browser please let the webmaster know. We try hard to avoid errors, but they have a habit of creeping in nevertheless.

Acknowledgement

The original version of the site was produced and hosted by Glenys Pople, working with Tamara Duvall and Vibeke Ervø. Glenys was eventually obliged to give up the production work, and David and Jean Leader of Q7 Design agreed to take it over. As the site expanded it had to be remodelled, so it is now somewhat different from its initial form.
